The first users of the new network will be thousands of customers of Bulldog Broadband, who already have services of up to 8 megabit. The new network can support higher volumes of traffic and new services, as well as increased broadband speeds, allowing downloads of music tracks to be measured in seconds rather than minutes and for viewing feature films.</description>

      <title>BT First quarter results show 5.6 Million broadband end users</title>
      <description>BT have today published First quarter results to June 30, reporting a profit before taxation of &amp;#163;511 million (up 20%) and a doubling of wholsesale broadband connections (over the previous 12 months) to 5.6 million. Broadband revenue was reported to have grown by 55 per cent to &amp;#163;161 million and the growth of broadband continues with 1,940,000 BT Retail connections at June 30, 2005, an increase of 11 per cent in the quarter.</description>
