Broadband Regional support and initiatives
Throughout the UK
initiatives are being sponsored through local government and private enterprise
to promote the use of broadband within local communities and businesses.
Collaboration between public and private agencies can lead to the provision of
independent, free information and advice to improve availability, access and
take up of broadband services accross the UK
Activities include the
provision of grants for businesses connecting for the first time to broadband,
free advice sessions, cashback offers for home users, events, free helplines
and a myriad of learning opportunities. Individual County Council appointed
Economic Development Projects are being tasked to increase the take up of
broadband, with a view to improved business competitiveness, enhanced learning
/ education opportunities and in some cases, with consideration being given to
the benefits of more flexibility in home-working and perceived benefits to
transport infrastructures.
