Wanadoo & Orange soon to tie the knot
France Telecom, owned Wanadoo and Orange are to join forces this summer under the single Orange banner. Whilst speculation still exists as to the exact date, a June announcement is expected.
For some Wanadoo customers, this will be the second re-brand that they will have experienced, following the change from Freeserve in 2004.
According to The Register, Orange are expected to unveil a "free" broadband proposition similar to the one Talk Talk that is causing a lot of stir in the industry. Like the Talk Talk (Carphone Warehouse) offer, Orange's deal is understood to have strings attached, caps, and a lengthy contract lock-in.
Wanadoo Announcement
"Wanadoo and Orange have been sister companies for several years. Having developed a strong partnership, the natural step is for us to join forces to create one integrated communications company for our customers. We've chosen Orange as it's the strongest brand, with a name which is well known and trusted throughout the world."

Wanadoo Wireless & Talk is No.1
The news confirms Wanadoo's position as Britain's No.1 phone to phone consumer Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) provider.
Eric Abensur, Wanadoo UK CEO, said: "We're thrilled that 150,000 customers are making great savings by registering with Wireless & Talk. We're confident much of this success is down to word of mouth - the surest way to tell your product is a winner.
"When people discover how much their friends are saving with Wireless & Talk, they aren't hesitating to jump aboard. This is the beginnings of a telephony revolution in the UK and the biggest winners are the consumers." Mr Abensur continued: "The unique advantage Wireless & Talk has over our competitors is the incredible simplicity it offers. No special headsets, no PC switched on all the time, you don't have to have a PhD in Computing to work it. Wireless & Talk really is the ultimate in hassle-free phone technology."
Indeed, customers just plug a normal (touch-tone) phone into the Wanadoo Livebox - that comes free with the service, and away they go. Perfect for families who may want to make or receive more than one call at once.
And what's more, Wanadoo is currently offering the service, subscription free, to all new Wanadoo Broadband customers who take out its £17.99 Plus and £27.99 Max up to 8 Meg broadband packages.

Wanadoo is crowned the UK’s Best Consumer ISP for the third year in a row
The ISPAs (Internet Service Providers Awards) are nationally recognised as the industry’s most respected accolade, with the Best Consumer ISP category being the most prestigious award of the evening.
Speaking after the eighth annual awards ceremony in London’s Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, Wanadoo UK CEO Eric Abensur said: “It has been yet another spectacular year for Wanadoo. Winning this award is testament to our commitment to delivering products and services that customers want, and it’s great to see the industry recognises us for this”.
Wanadoo has won the title of best Consumer ISP, four times in the past five years. Mr Abensur added: “Since last year’s win, we have had a tremendously successful year. We have become the UK’s no.1, consumer paid for, phone-to phone VoIP provider and offer some of the best value internet packages on the market.”
What the judges said
‘Best National Consumer ISP’: For the fourth time in five years. The judges considered Wanadoo to offer a “very attractive product package” with a great variety of value-added extras for their consumers. The judges were particularly impressed with Wanadoo’s innovative ‘Livebox’ product, which offers wireless connectivity and VoIP to Wanadoo’s users. Wanadoo’s consideration for the security of its customers was noted by the standard of its anti-abuse service and a strong commitment to the protection of children online.”

Wanadoo is UK's No.1 Consumer VoIP Provider
Eric Abensur, Wanadoo UK CEO, said: “It’s clear that consumers love the simplicity of Wireless & Talk as there are currently around 5,000 Wanadoo customers registering every week. There is no software to download, no fiddly headphones and you’re not tied to your computer. Phone-to-phone is the way forward for VoIP services and Wanadoo is clearly leading the way.”
Unlike many other companies offering VoIP services, Wanadoo Wireless & Talk is high on customer convenience. It offers an integrated approach to communications providing the broadband connection, telephony service and Livebox in one package, meaning that customers always have a point of reference should a query arise. Customers are paying monthly for a service and so receive the benefits that go with this, such as high levels of dedicated customer support.
Customers receive a secondary phone line on a dedicated Wanadoo Broadband connection plus free evening and weekend calls to any UK landline and free calls at any time, day or night, to other Wanadoo Wireless & Talk users.
Just plug a normal (touch tone) phone into the Wanadoo Livebox - that comes free on loan with the service, and away you go. Perfect for families who find that their ordinary line is in use and may want to make or receive more than one call at once.
The family also get to experience the benefits of connecting to the Internet - wirelessly. Using the Wanadoo Livebox, customers can connect more than one PC to the Internet and surf from anywhere around the home. So now you can chat, surf, legally download and game - all simultaneously.
Wanadoo has also revealed that in its Local Loop Unbundled (LLU) areas, new customers will be able to receive an even faster broadband service with an up to 8 Meg wireless broadband connection, plus free off-peak VoIP calls - all for only £14.99 per month for the first six months*.
