Searching for the Champions of the UK Internet Industry Launch of The 2006 ISPAs - The 8th Annual UK Internet Industry Awards

The Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA UK) in association with Epitiro (formerly Purple Sun) has launched this years' search for the Internet industry’s champion performers.

The 2006 ISPAs - the 8th annual UK Internet industry awards – will build on the success of last year’s awards where 120 Internet services were independently monitored by Epitiro.

The 2006 ISPAs will be made up of two divisions; the ISP division and the Special Awards division.

The ISPAs retains its position as THE UK Internet Industry Awards by changing and evolving to reflect the dynamic industry it serves.

The 2006 ISPAs features six broadband categories and introduces three new award categories. Namely;

- Best Dial-Up
- Best Uncontended Service
- Best Streaming Service.

Jessica Hendrie-Liaño, Chair of the ISPA Council said, “The ISPAs celebrate outstanding performance and service from ISPs across the Internet industry. It is a superb opportunity for consumers to see which services perform best under the scrutiny of the independent monitoring and judging process.”

Epitiro will analyse, monitor and test entrants in the ISP Division on criteria including connection time, connection speed, upload and download speed, and DNS time.

Shortlist selection will be based on how well services perform in relation to the speeds at which they are marketed. An independent judging panel of industry experts from across the sector will then select the winners based on entrants’ value added services such as levels of customer support, the presence of service restrictions and online safety features.

The ISPA Council will select the shortlists and winners of the Internet Hero and Internet Villain categories and the Internet Watch Foundation will select the shortlist and winner for the Internet Watch Foundation Award.

About Epitiro (formerly Purple Sun)

Epitiro offer a range of services to Internet service providers to monitor the performance of customer experiences across dial up, cable, VPN, ISDN, ADSL and Wireless connections. Epitiro 's ISP-I ("eyespy") system compares ISP performance from a variety of sites across the UK, external to the provider's network. ISP-I constantly monitors performance by continually connecting to each ISP, every 15-30 minutes, and capturing performance metrics such as time to connect, connection speed, upload, download speed, ping time, DNS look-up time and e-mail. Epitiro is headquartered in Cardiff. Further information is available at www.epitiro.com.
