6th July 2005:
AOL
Broadband AOL makes it 'Live L8' after Live 8
Any Internet
user who misses the Live 8 concerts on July 2, or who simply wants to relive
their favourite moments, will be able to see live concerts and exclusive
highlights packages on www.aol.co.uk/live8 for six weeks after the concerts.
The AOL UK portal will include highlights of the performances and the
opportunity to learn more about the cause. There is also a link to the Live 8
List, a Web site created by AOL for Live 8, where visitors can add their names
to a global petition urging the leaders of the G8 nations to put an end to
world poverty.
Dan Patton, Head of Music at AOL, said: "Live 8 will be
an historic event and is an opportunity for the world to express its views on
issues such as poverty and fair trade. 'Relive Live 8' will give people a
second chance to see highlights of the concerts and, crucially, become part of
a collective voice that makes a difference by showing their support for the
event."
* In the UK, AOL is Webcasting the Live 8 concerts from London,
Philadelphia, Berlin and Paris live and on-demand for up to six weeks
afterwards
* There will also be a live and on-demand collated stream
with highlights from these four concerts plus the Rome and Barrie (Canada)
events. This means online users will be able to watch the entire Live 8 event
from start to finish, plus switch between individual concerts running
simultaneously
* The on-demand footage will be available from the
afternoon of Monday, July 4, giving users the opportunity to watch the
highlights by selecting video/audio packages, with the artists grouped in
segments of three. AOL will also be providing additional artist information to
supplement the on-demand broadcasts
* In the run-up to the events, AOL
is running archive footage from the original Live Aid event of 1985, including
performances by U2, Eric Clapton and David Bowie, as well as a selection of
archive Sessions@AOL performances from artists appearing at Live 8, which were
recorded exclusively for AOL, including performances from Coldplay, Maroon 5,
Dido, Joss Stone and Placebo
* All the latest Live 8 news and AOL
community features are available, so that Internet users everywhere can learn
more about global poverty, connect with a community of fans and make their
voices heard.
