Easynet broadband
Easynet broadband
Founded in 1994, Easynet is a leading pan-European
broadband networking company, providing businesses across Europe with
innovative, IP-based wide area network solutions.
Easynet is an
infrastructure-based provider, with a 'pure IP' next generation network.
Control of the underlying infrastructure is key to providing quality end-to-end
network management, guaranteeing service levels and reducing complexity for the
customer. Easynets unbundled local loop access in selected countries
allows the development of innovative services such as SureStream, which is
revolutionising the leased line market.
Easynet's fault-tolerant
networks deliver mission critical data to a range of corporates, either
nationally or cross-border across Europe. We have specialist knowledge of the
local regulatory regimes and in dealing with third party providers for extended
reach. This on the ground operational specialism enables Easynet to
provide highly skilled pan-European technical design and project management,
coupled with a single point of contact for network management, multi-lingual
support and customer care.
Easynet consistently delivers against market
and customer expectations. Revenue increased by 27% to £116m in 2003, and
the Group became EBITDA positive as a whole in December 2003. At the end of
December 2003, Easynet had a cash balance of £71.9m, and no significant
bank or bond debt.

What is LLU?
LLU or Local Loop Unbundling is a
regulatory requirement for BT to allow access by other operators to their
exchanges to encourage innovation and competition. By placing our own equipment
in the exchange we are able to deliver a unique portfolio of services.
As a pioneer of Local Loop Unbundling in the UK, Easynet has made
substantial investment to directly connect our pan-european and extensive UK
network to 230 BT local exchanges. This enables us to control the services
end-to-end and provide the all-important service level guarantees needed for
business grade Broadband and Internet Access services.
Using this
method, Easynet offers Broadband Internet Access with bandwidth ranging from
512kbps to 8Mbps, a choice of asymmetric or symmetric access, contention
ranging from 50:1 to 1:1 and service level guarantees. Easynet was the first
company in the UK to deliver high-speed Internet service over LLU, pioneering
high-grade services through the extension of tried and trusted DSL technology
(used by BT for many years to deliver leased lines). Easynet has approximately
90% of the unbundled lines in the UK within a footprint that takes in 70% of
the UKs businesses.
