BYTEL broadband
Bytel Limited is a
networking and Internet Hosting company based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The
company is an Internet Solutions provider and maintains and supports the
Belfast Internet Point of Presence (POP) for MCI.
MCI is a global
communications company with annual revenue of over $20 billion and established
operations in over 65 countries. It is a global leader in the Internet market
providing 65% plus of the international Internet Backbone. MCI is the only Tier
1 carrier in Northern Ireland and is at the top of the telecommunications
peering and settlements food chain.
It is through this relationship with
MCI that enables Bytel to offer customers connection to the Internet Backbone,
thereby supplying them with the fastest, most reliable internet connection
available in the province.
Bytel has vast experience in the technology
sector and also offers a range of additional products and services such as:
Hosting, Virtual Private Networks, Connectivity, Network support/Maintenance
and Specialised Software Products.
ADSL
Bytel ADSL offers
customers an always-on broadband connectivity solution. It is available in two
varieties, namely Office ADSL and Workgroup ADSL.
(1) Office
ADSL Bytel Office ADSL is a low-contention always-on broadband
connectivity solution that is suited to larger office networks, or to
situations in which a number of people will be making intensive use of the
internet concurrently. A block of eight IP addresses is provided, and you have
the option of taking more. Office ADSL is available in three formats dependant
on download speed required.
(2) Workgroup ADSL
Bytel
Workgroup 500 ADSL is an always on broadband connectivity solution best suited
to workgroups or small or home office networks. A single, fixed IP address is
provided for the cutomers use. Workgroup ADSL has the following attirbutes.
Bytel Workgroup 1000 ADSL is an always on broadband connectivity
solution best suited to workgroups or small or home office networks. A single,
fixed IP address is provided for the cutomers use. Workgroup ADSL has the
following attirbutes.
SDSL
SDSL is part of the DSL
(broadband) family. SDSL is used to describe a high-speed symmetric connection
for Internet access over a dedicated line. Unlike ADSL (A-symmetric Digital
Subscriber Line) SDSL has equal upload and download speeds, as the name might
suggest. Due to the nature of the technology a dedicated line is required
therefore it is not possible to use it as a phone or fax line, this is one of
the main differences between SDSL and ADSL.
Bytel's SDSL service is
faster than ADSL as it has the 'same speed both ways', which means the service
is equivalent to a high-speed leased line at a much lower cost. The service
offers instant high-speed Internet access to multiple users on office networks,
with a low contention ratio of 10:1 giving a seamless, business focused
connection.
SDSL technology will improve solutions that rely extensively
on the Internet such as Virtual Private Networks, Voice over IP, Video
conferencing and point-to-point connectivity. Such services rely on large
amounts of bandwidth and low contention ratios in order to maximise the
potential of the applications.
SDSL will be connected to your network
using a dedicated SDSL router. At the other end Bytel will provide fast
Internet access, securely and efficiently. Bytel also provide customers with a
full suit of Internet services such as secure hardware firewalls, back-up
facilities, fully integrated mail systems, hosting, co-location and domain name
management.
Flat rate and always-on With Bytel's always-on
SDSL service, we also offer a flat rate pricing structure, so budgeting for
your companies Internet spend could not be easier. Implementing an SDSL
solution means that data is transmitted and received at the same speed enabling
you to maximise efficiency and productivity. These benefits are similar to
those of a leased line with out the large costs associated such a
solution.
Availability SDSL is currently available in limited
areas, this is however expanding month on month as BT endeavour to roll out the
service to many other geographic locations. Bytel can conduct a survey of your
premises on request to see if the service is available and what speed of
connection you could receive. If SDSL is available in your area, the speed of
the connection you are able to receive depends on the distance of your premises
from the local telephone exchange.
