UK Online set to launch 24Mb
broadband (01/09/05)
10 months after UK Online smashed British
broadband speed barriers with the UK's first-ever 8Mb broadband, the broadband
ISP is set to break new ground yet again with the launch of 24Mb services.
Approval of ADSL2+ for commercial use in the UK paves the way for UK Online to
begin immediate field trials on consumer lines.
UK Online's
groundbreaking broadband service offering speeds of up to 24Mb will be
available in October, for under £30 a month. Consumers can register their
interest via www.ukonline.net
Chris Stening, General Manager at UK
Online, commented, "We've been pushing the current ADSL technology to its
limits with 8Mb broadband since late last year. This is yet another innovation
for UK Online."
With ADSL2+ being approved for commercial use, the
launch of a new generation of broadband services at up to 24Mb will be yet
another milestone in a year of firsts for UK Online to add to the first 8Mb
broadband in November 2004 and the first broadband for under £10 in April
2005. UK Online has been conducting technical trials of ADSL2+ with parent
company Easynet since March of this year.
