Telewest Broadband launches green
initiative with Future Forests (01/09/05)
Telewest Broadband is
working with Future Forests, in association with IM Forestry, to dedicate a
tree in the Balblair forest in Scotland for every new customer that signs up to
its electronic billing service.
The promotion, starting in September,
is designed to encourage new customers to ditch the traditional paper bill and
move to an environmentally friendly electronic format. In 2002, Telewest
Broadband introduced single billing for customers using more than one service.
Electronic billing and payment has saved 50.6 million A4 sheets of paper, 32.3
million A4 envelopes and 10.7 million business reply envelopes for Telewest
Broadband over two years.
Future Forests is a UK-based climate change
company that has developed best-practice products and services which enable
people and businesses to take positive action to tackle climate change.
Philip Snalune, product management and marketing director of Telewest
Broadband, said: "We are delighted to be working on this green initiative with
Future Forests. E-billing offers our customers convenience and the chance to do
something positive for the environment. More consumers are subscribing to
broadband internet services and we are keen for them to register for e-billing
as it will help to improve paper consumption."
Telewest Broadband will
include written communication from Future Forests in its 'welcome pack', and
invite customers to sign up to e-billing. Broadband internet customers will
also receive e-mail prompts from Future Forests to highlight the month long
promotion.
Registering for e-billing is easy, by visiting the cable
company's blueyonder.co.uk website customers tap in their e-mail address and a
PIN number is sent to access the service. Customers will then be directed to
the Future Forest website, where they will then be able to collect their
sapling dedication. Monthly bills can also be viewed via the blueyonder.co.uk
website.
Corporate social responsibility is now an integral component of
Telewest Broadband's supplier accreditation process.
Future Forests
Ltd is the leading climate change business which helps companies and the
public understand their contribution to global warming and then to take action
in a way which delivers broad-based environmental benefit
